CESCO/Pipefitters Local 537 Help Local Veterans

CESCO and it's employees recently donated their time to ensure that the veterans at the Chelsea Soldier’s Home have an uninterrupted supply of hot water.

Due to recent state budget cuts, the Soldiers Home did not have adequate funding to replace the aging heat exchanger that supplies hot water for showers and laundry facilities. A unique partnership between Kirschner Associates of Middleboro, who donated the heat exchanger and CESCO and their Local 537 pipefitters, who donated about $10,000 worth of labor, allowed for a complete replacement of the problem component.

As Bill Mahoney of CESCO said “We recognize the importance of helping our veterans and providing hot water is certainly a priority. It was just the right thing to do for our veterans.” CESCO is one of the service providers for the HVAC systems in the building. Robert Maniatis, Operations Manager of the Soldier’s Home said “We are thankful for the generosity of all involved in this project.”

The Chelsea Soldier’s Home, opened in 1882, is a state-funded, fully accredited health care complex that offers veterans long term care, skilled nursing, full-time residential accommodations and a multi-service outpatient department. The complex houses upwards to 460 veterans.
